Dubai Municipality is taking significant strides towards environmental sustainability with the launch of its innovative smart marine scraper and a dedicated team for cleaning the emirate's water canals and creeks. The state-of-the-art scraper, developed in collaboration with Al Khattal Boat Factory, boasts remote operation with unlimited range and real-time satellite monitoring. It leverages 5G technology for precise maneuvers and efficient waste collection, featuring an intelligent marine survey system to identify and remove floating waste. An interactive external environment system further enhances safety by automatically preventing collisions.
This scraper boasts an impressive 1,000-kilogram waste collection capacity, significantly boosting productivity in combating water pollution. Alongside this innovation, Dubai Municipality has assembled a dedicated team of 12 marine captains, 25 workers, and sailors, along with 12 marine vehicles. This team is committed to daily cleaning tasks according to a set work plan and will also conduct around-the-clock field follow-ups to ensure consistent water canal and creek cleanliness throughout Dubai's 35-kilometer (19 nautical mile) network.
