Argentinian authorities have revealed that three people have been charged in connection with the death of One Direction star Liam Payne. Liam Payne died on October 16 after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires. The suspects are reportedly charged with abandonment of a person followed by death as well as supply and facilitation of narcotics.
Argentina's National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office has not revealed the identities of the suspects. However, those charged include a suspected drug dealer, a hotel employee who may have provided the singer with the drugs, and a person who was close to Payne. According to a BBC report, the public prosecutor's office said on Thursday that toxicology tests revealed traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in Liam Payne's body.
The report also noted that a post-mortem examination determined the 31-year-old's cause of death as "multiple trauma" and "internal and external haemorrhage" as a result of the fall from the hotel balcony. The prosecutors said that investigation into the circumstances of Payne's death will continue. Medical reports suggested that he may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness. Liam Payne's death shocked the world and raised questions about how he had fallen. Investigators are still looking into Payne's damaged laptop and other devices seized.
