A thought provoking story of an elderly man around 60 plus who is entrapped in isolation after the death of his beloved wife. Vignesh Paramashivam an aspiring filmmaker from Tamilnadu has directed the ‘Thunai’ short fiction story, released on June 1, 2023. Thought of the film it emphasizes on his struggling to move on with life consumed by the grief following the loss of wife .

The lead character Pasupathi Raj as Paramasivam find it’s hard to settle into his life , so he misguide people by acting as an amnesia patient to seek companionship from people whom he come across once he faints on the streets, they assist him reach home as well as a medium of consolation to his heart. As film progresses with his repetitive patterns of challenging lifestyle , one day he is rescued by an old women, Leela Samson played the role of the old women and is the protagonist of this film. Leela Samson decided to help him to identify his name and address by spending whole day with him. The story takes the audience in a path of curiosity whether she is able to find his home or not. After meetings and he reaches his house and drew the portraits of the strangers he met met on the day and writes down the significant events he experienced . The meeting of Leela Samson brings some special moments to Paramasivam.

The director Vignesh Paramasivam’s 4th short film ‘Thunai’ which is trying to convey the idea to support the old age people who is facing loneliness. In our day to day life we can see many aged category people are faced with numerous physical, psychological and social problems that challenges them to lead a happy life. So the director is giving a message to embrace the elderly people within ourselves. Vignesh Paramasivam has maintained a simplified communication of this story, without much convoluted character development or contrived situations in the story. This short fiction also transferred multiple strong thoughts of Pain ,Loss, Love and much more. The visual representation of this short fiction is very simple and giving a feel good experience to the audience. The soundtrack features ethereal sounds-light yet soft music, suggesting the characters are emotionally intertwined, their connection moving beyond to a place of pure understanding and empathy. It pulls the audience into the characters world, making the bond feel deep and intimate .The film concludes on how Paramasivam is able to coexist with his profound grief by sharing the fleeting human connection experiences that help him to get through with his life.
