Abu Dhabi Customs Unveils First Phase Of Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has announced the completion of the Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System in Abu Dhabi, designed to expedite the movement of duty-suspended goods within the Emirate. Abu Dhabi Customs said that this achievement was made by establishing virtual corridors using electronic customs seals implemented within the framework of the National System for Tracking Trucks and Shipments in coordination with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security.

In the first phase, the Virtual Corridors Cargo Movement System applies to shipments traveling from Khalifa Port to companies operating within Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), encompassing free zone entities and private customs warehouses. To access this service, users can apply through approved digital customs platforms via the "Customs Entry/Exit Certificate." Subsequently, the applicant, their delegate, or the shipping agent can select the "Cargo Transfer Request" option and provide shipment details based on the manifest or bill of lading.

The launch of virtual corridors aligns with Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to implementing strategic government priorities. These priorities aim to facilitate trade, establish Abu Dhabi as a premier import and export hub, and elevate the customer experience. The system achieves these goals by simplifying customs clearance procedures, boosting operational efficiency, and reducing transportation costs for duty-suspended goods within the Emirate.
